Refund Policy

Important: Refund eligibility depends on the fare type purchased and the operating airline's policies. Sitharanee acts as an independent travel agent — we facilitate refund requests but are bound by the airline's rules. All refund requests must be initiated by calling (844) 205-4177.

1. DOT 24-Hour Cancellation Rule

In compliance with U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, passengers booking flights originating in the United States are entitled to a full refund of the base fare if:

  • The booking is cancelled within 24 hours of the original purchase, AND
  • The scheduled departure is at least 7 days (168 hours) from the time of booking

2. Refundable vs. Non-Refundable Tickets

Refundable Tickets

Eligible for a full refund of base fare and taxes, less any applicable airline cancellation penalties and Sitharanee service fees. Requests must be submitted before the scheduled departure. Refunds are returned to the original payment method within 7–21 business days.

Non-Refundable Tickets

Generally not eligible for cash refunds. Depending on the airline's policy, the unused ticket value may be applied as a travel credit or future travel voucher, minus applicable fees. The following are typically not refundable:

  • Sitharanee service and processing fees
  • Airline-imposed cancellation penalties
  • Travel insurance premiums (governed by the insurer)
  • Airline seat selection fees

3. Airline-Initiated Cancellations

If your flight is cancelled or significantly delayed by the airline, you are generally entitled to a full refund regardless of fare type. Sitharanee will assist you in requesting a refund from the airline, rebooking on the next available flight, and exploring alternative routing options. Call us at (844) 205-4177 immediately if your flight is cancelled by the airline.

4. Force Majeure Cancellations

In the event of extraordinary circumstances beyond the airline's control — including natural disasters, severe weather, pandemics, political unrest, or government travel bans — refund and rebooking rights are determined by each airline's specific policies. Sitharanee will act as your advocate in seeking resolution.

5. Cancellation Fee Schedule

The following general guidelines apply to voluntary cancellations. Actual fees vary by airline and fare class:

6. Travel Credits & Vouchers

When an airline issues a travel credit or voucher in lieu of a cash refund:

  • Credits are typically valid for 12 months from the original ticket issue date (varies by airline)
  • Credits must be used by the same passenger on the original booking
  • Credits may not be transferable or redeemable for cash
  • Sitharanee service fees are not covered by airline-issued credits
  • We will assist you in applying credits to future bookings

7. Seat Upgrade Refunds

Upgrade fees paid directly to airlines are subject to the airline's individual upgrade refund policy. Service fees charged by Sitharanee for processing upgrade requests are non-refundable. If an upgrade is cancelled by the airline, the upgrade amount may be refunded by the airline, but our processing fee is retained.

8. How to Request a Refund

  • Provide your booking reference, passenger name(s), and flight details
  • Our agent will review your fare rules and advise on refund eligibility
  • We will initiate the refund request with the airline on your behalf
  • You will receive email confirmation of the refund request within 24–48 hours

Refunds are processed to the original payment method and may take 7–21 business days depending on the airline and your financial institution.

9. Sitharanee Service Fee Policy

Service fees charged by Sitharanee for booking, processing changes, or handling cancellations are non-refundable under all circumstances. These fees are disclosed clearly before confirmation.
